DESI UTPAD
White, long-grain rice: Raw, long-grain white rice is a relatively good source of energy, carbohydrates, calcium, iron, thiamin, pantothenic acid, folate and vitamin E, compared to maize, wheat and potatoes. It contains no vitamin C, vitamin A, beta-carotene, or lutein + zeazanthin, and is notably low in fiber. Many people consider white rice an “empty” or “bad” carb since it loses nutrients when the bran and germ are removed. However, white rice is typically enriched with added nutrients such as iron and B vitamins. So while brown rice does have more nutrients than white rice, white rice is still considered nutritious. Both white and brown rice contain mainly carbohydrate and some protein, with virtually no fat or sugar. Cooked rice contains a lot of water, making up almost 70% of its total weight.
