Black mustard is used for the common cold, joint pain, arthritis, lung illnesses, and other conditions, but there is no good scientific evidence to support these uses. In foods, black mustard leaves (greens) are used in salads and other dishes. The seed is used as a spice and to flavor mustard condiment.
