There is no denying the fact, that desserts give a befitting end to any meal. Dessert is defined as a course that concludes a meal. The course consists of sweet foods, such as confections, and possibly a beverage such as dessert wine and liqueur. And we Indians? We have a penchant for sweets, no doubt. Not only are desserts part of our staple fare, but they are also offered in our places of worship. Be it the khada prasad at Gurudwaras or the modaks for our Ganesha, desserts form an integral part of our sacred offerings. And by and large, all Indian desserts use sugar, milk and khoya as staple ingredients.
Sweet Nothings Bakers by Apoorva Bhargava is reviving age-old recipes and traditional cooking ways. It prides itself on being old-school where a lot of emphasis is put on fresh, organic, and premium ingredients. II's preserves, syrups, squashes, desserts and other bakery items are completely artificial preservative-free.
Apoorva started the concept of ‘East Meets West’, a fusion of Indian and western desserts such as Mithaai Cheesecake, Spiced Pineapple Cheesecake, and a lot of other exclusive combinations. Cheesecake is a sweet dessert consisting of one or more layers. The main, and thickest, layer consists of a mixture of a soft, fresh cream cheese, and sugar. It’s easy to love cheesecake. It has cream cheese, sugar, butter, vanilla, and a graham cracker crust. But is it actually a cake as the name suggests? Cheesecake is just one of the desserts that falls into the category of having “cake” in the name despite possibly not being a cake at all from a pure definition standpoint. A cake is “a sweet, baked, breadlike food, made with or without shortening, and usually containing flour, sugar, baking powder or soda, and liquid flavoring.”Cheesecake may be decadent and rich, but it’s far from “breadlike” and includes no flour or baking agents. Cheesecake is typically made with a cheese like ricotta, cream cheese, or Neufchatel. Most baked cheesecakes use a custard base for filling comprised of milk, eggs, sugar, salt, and vanilla or other flavors. At Sweet Nothings our seasonal specialties are Aam Panna Cheesecake, Mango Chilli Mousse, or the Mango Kulfi Cheesecake.
Jam is a thick sweet food that is made by cooking fruit with a large amount of sugar, and that is usually spread on bread. Syrup is a thick sweet liquid, often made by boiling sugar with water or fruit juice. Squash, on the other hand, is a non-alcoholic concentrated syrup used in beverage making. It is usually fruit-flavoured, made from fruit juice, water, and sugar or a sugar substitute. Modern squashes may also contain food colouring and additional flavouring. Some traditional squashes contain herbal extracts, most notably elderflower and ginger.
All these products require fruits and vegetables in huge quantities, so they are season dependent. In summer their is abundance of mangoes while in winters strawberries, grapes, etc. So the production line has to be planned in a way that no opportunity is missed and raw material can be converted into jams, squashes, etc. as soon as they reach you or else they may perish or get stale.
Apoorva uses her grandmother's age-old recipes to make her much loved guava jelly, gooseberry jams, lemon squashes, etc. Apart from that, she also works on fruit and vegetable preserves, so you enjoy your favourites all the year round.
Our vision is to create everlasting memories through the medium of baked goods. Baked goods, as we all know, are foods made from dough or batter and cooked by baking, a method of cooking food that uses prolonged dry heat, normally in an oven, but also in hot ashes, or on hot stones. Though baked products have potentially lower fat and retains vitamin C but even if they don't contain trans fats, they might contain refined flour and sugar. Refined flours have had many of their nutrients and most of their fiber removed during processing. They are simple carbohydrates that are quickly metabolized by your body and may spike your blood sugar. The same is true for foods with lots of sugar in them. Too much sugar can lead to weight gain, diabetes and heart disease. However, baking is generally considered a healthy cooking method because it does not require large amounts of fats or salt. While some recipes call for a pan to be lightly greased, the amount of oil added is typically quite minimal, particularly when compared to less healthy cooking methods such as frying. Additionally, baking does not typically cause nutrients in a dish to break down, which further contributes to its reputation as a healthy cooking method.
Our mission is to introduce innovative products that taste great and make every experience of savoring them memorable. We never compromise on the quality of the product and thus, always exceed the expectations of the customers. We promote a healthy lifestyle through traditional baking and food preservation that are without additives or preservatives of any kind. We also promote first-hand purchasing, to strengthen the sector of agriculture, especially farmers.
